Back to the sucky preacher

Well after 3 weeks of great teaching from Craig Groeshel, Gary Lamb and Steven Furtick (who one of our members said it felt like Billy Idol was preaching to them!) we are back this Sunday to our regular sucky preacher, yours truly!  After three weeks of not teaching I am fired up.  I needed a break but I have to say every week I wanted to take the message each guy preached and do it myself.  I love preaching!  Now after a long break I am ready to close out One Prayer with my prayer.  I honestly believe there is no more dangerous prayer than this.  You will have to be there live and in person to find out what it is.

I think this series really showed us that its not about who is teaching - but its about the church being the church.  We have had great attendance, in spite it being dead summer.  Our people put up with technology glitches, which seems to be our signature - and I love they way they (you) interacted and stayed engaged with video teaching.

My only worry now is that people will want more of these guys and less of me ;-)  Heck, they might even realize they dont really need me ;-)

Summer of Love

As part of our OnePrayer initiative we wanted to do more than talk about how to be part of a united church.  We wanted to BE the church.  I am so proud of our church and how they have responded.  During week 2, we collected gift cards and household items for Lexi House - a shelter for women and children.  Today we collected food for the North Alabama Food Bank.  And we received an offering to plant 500 churches in Cambodia, India, China and Sudan.  I am pretty pumped up about what our church has done - and we give Jesus all the Glory.  Together we managed to collect:

• over $1800.00 in gift cards and household items for Lexi House
• Almost $1000.00 to start churches 
• A Pickup Truck Load of groceries

a Church Planting Revolution

One of my dreams for Crosspoint is to help plant a church.  I cant tell you how badly I want to be part of this.  We have some some very small things to help other churches - but come June we have an opportunity that jacks me up! 

As part of One Prayer, we will join with other churches to be part of planting not 1, not 10, not 100...But 500! (YES FIVE ZERO ZERO) churches!  Imagine the impact of 500 new churches!  You can read more about this initiative on Tim Steven's blog and the One Prayer Mission site.  Over 800 churches have now joined OnePrayer.  If you go to Crosspoint I seriously want to ask you to start praying and fasting and asking God how YOU can participate in this amazing mission initiative revolution!
